Our little Ariah had to leave school early with a high temperature—and from there, it was a tough ride. Sleepless nights, fever spikes, cool baths, ice lollies, juice, alternating Calpol and Nurofen… nothing seemed to help. Her temperature hit 39.5°C, and we were doing all we could just to keep her comfortable.
We reached out to our church family to pray for her, and thank God, the fever finally dropped to 38. Still high, but a big relief. Her temperature eventually dropped to 37 but only when she had medicine in her system. Even with no appetite, an aching body, and utter exhaustion, Ariah still found the energy to throw a birthday BBQ for her baby doll turning 2! 🎉 Party games and all. She invited us, of course. 💕
As I watched her—so poorly, yet still showing up for her “baby”—I had a moment. Is this where it starts? That deep love that keeps showing up, no matter how we feel? I saw in my 5-year-old the heart of a mother.
Isn’t that what so many of us do? No matter how drained, sick, or weary we are… we find strength. We cook, we clean, we care. Love pulls us through
So here’s a little reminder:
Keep going, even when it’s hard.
Keep showing up, even when it hurts.
Because someone small is watching… and learning.
P.S. Ariah is doing much better now. The fever broke after 3 days. Thank you so much for the prayers! 🙏
