Today, not everything went as planned, but we moved with the flow, held onto peace, and found joy in the unexpected. And still—this post isn’t about all that.
This is about something that touched my heart deep within… a moment that gently reminded me why I believe what I believe.
As we do most evenings, we gathered around the dinner table—just us, as a family. No distractions, just conversation, connection, and food. We always take this time to ask each other how our day went and share any highlights It’s one of my favourite parts of the day. (Even though my daughter’s highlights include everything in her day starting with, first I got out of bed, made my bed…)
Tonight, in the middle of our meal, my son casually said, “Today one of my friends was very sad.”
We all paused, and asked why.
“Because their grandma passed away,” he said.
“Aww, that’s really sad,” we responded.
A thousand thoughts/feelings flooded my mind, thinking of the day when my children lost their grandfather….
My son’s voice tore me from thoughts as I heard him continue, “I tried everything to make him laugh or smile, but nothing was working. In the end, I asked my friend… ‘Do you have a religion? Then this is the time to pray.’”
My heart. My heart leapt. It was such a simple sentence yet one full of hope!
My husband and I looked at Ezra in awe. He didn’t force his faith on his friend. He didn’t preach. He simply extended something real—something steady and grounding—at a time when his friend needed comfort the most.
And I thought… Isn’t that what we all need?
Faith. Hope and Love. Something to hold onto when the floor crumbles beneath us.
I’ve found that in Jesus Christ. It’s not just a religion to me. It’s a relationship. He is my lifeline. A solid strength that carries me when I feel I can’t take another step. He is the reason I can stay sane in chaos, keep serving when I feel empty, and rise each day with renewed purpose.
So, let me ask you—who do you turn to when you’re in pain? Do you have a faith that anchors you, that steadies your spirit and brings peace to your heart?
If you’re reading this and carrying an unspoken hurt… a silent struggle… please know, I’m praying for you. Not just in passing, but genuinely, intentionally.
Heavenly Father,
I pray for the one reading this right now. You alone know their struggle, you know the silent battle they are facing, you know the heavy emotions they have to deal with.. You alone know everything they have been through and are still going through…. May You please give them hope and a renewed strength from within. May you wrap your living arms around them and hold them close to you and let them know…. It’s going to be alright.
In Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen
