Everything is Beautiful in it’s Season.

Our family has been having interesting discussions centred on the encouraging words of Ecclesiastes 3: “To everything, there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven… He has made everything beautiful in its time.” These words carry profound truth, reminding us that every stage of life is intentional and beautiful in its own way.

We have been teaching our children an important lesson: don’t rush your season of life. Childhood is precious. It’s a time to explore, learn, and enjoy being a child. Rushing into the responsibilities of adulthood can rob them of this unique season’s joy. As parents, we realise this wisdom applies to us as well.

The Pressure to Rush

Life often feels like a race, with society dictating milestones we should achieve by certain ages. Women are usually pressured to marry, have children, or climb the career ladder quickly. We hear messages about biological clocks, high-risk pregnancies, and missing opportunities, which can create anxiety and depression. For men, expectations to provide, achieve financial success, or attain status can be equally overwhelming.

But Ecclesiastes reminds us of a greater truth: God’s timing is perfect. He is the Creator of time and the Author of every season in our lives. We can trust that His plans for us are beautiful and intentional. When we try to force things to happen outside their season—whether rushing into a relationship, a job, or any life goal—we risk missing out on the fullness of God’s plan and risk bringing on unnecessary problems upon ourselves. (biblical example of Abraham, Sarah and Haggar)

Trusting in God’s Timing

Waiting can be challenging, especially when you see others around you flourishing. But you must remember that each person’s journey is unique. God has not forgotten you. He sees you, knows your desires, and is working behind the scenes, orchestrating every detail of your life. The season you’re in right now is preparing you for the blessings to come.

Psalm 27:14 encourages us: “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!” Waiting on God isn’t passive; it’s an active trust in His faithfulness.

What to Do While You Wait

  1. Be Faithful in the Present: Focus on the responsibilities and opportunities God has placed before you right now. Whether it’s raising children, excelling in your job, or serving in your community, do it with excellence and a grateful heart.
  2. Live in Gratitude: Instead of dwelling on what you don’t have, take time to appreciate what you do have. Gratitude shifts our focus from lack to abundance.
  3. Avoid Comparisons: Remember, your journey is your own. Comparing yourself to others will only lead to frustration. Celebrate others’ successes while trusting that your time will come.
  4. Strengthen Your Faith: Use this waiting season to draw closer to God. Spend time in prayer, study His Word, and remind yourself of His promises.
  5. Refuse to Compromise: Don’t lower your standards, morals, or ethics just to achieve a goal or meet societal expectations. God’s blessings will come without requiring you to compromise who you are.

A Beautiful Reminder

Ecclesiastes 3:11 declares, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” This is a promise. God’s timing is not always our timing, but it is always perfect. When your season of blessing comes, it will be worth the wait.

So, remember that God is in control, whether you are single, longing for marriage, waiting for children, hoping for a promotion, or simply seeking clarity about your purpose. Don’t let society, family, or even your impatience push you to step outside of His perfect plan.

Instead, be still and trust. He is the One who holds your life and future in His hands. When the time is right, everything will align, and you will see how beautifully God has worked all things together for your good.
