Life can feel like a whirlwind, can’t it? The days rush by, and there’s no pause button, no slowing down to catch our breath. We’re all in this together, facing overwhelming challenges, trying to process our emotions in a world that just won’t stop.
And it’s not just us. Others are dealing with intense situations, daily demons, and fighting battles we might not even know about. Some are just holding on to life itself. Amid it all, we find ourselves endlessly scrolling through media, seeking that one clip, meme, or song that will offer a glimmer of hope, strong comfort, or reassurance.
But let’s be honest, it takes a lot of scrolling, and often, we end up more distracted than ever, still longing for that word of encouragement. But what if, instead of searching for it, we become the source of encouragement for someone else? (I know many do this already, so please don’t grow weary or stop). After all, the Word of God says in Hebrews 3 that we should encourage each other while it is still today.
You don’t need a title or a position, no degree or diploma. You don’t need a grand prophetic word or long prayers. Encouraging someone is simpler than you might think. Here’s what I did in the past few weeks of silence from social media:
1. Every morning, I asked the Lord, “Who would you like me to pray for and reach out to today?”
2. I asked God what I should pray about for that person. There was often silence, so I just started praying as if I were praying for myself.
3. Next I’d get in touch with the person I was praying for and sometimes I would let them know exactly what I prayed for them. Might not remember everything but the key points. Sometimes,I would actually pray with them. ( You don’t have to do this all the time. But it’s a great blessing when you do).
It does not take much to encourage a person, but it means much to the one receiving it. Imagine receiving a message from someone saying, God loves you, He has not forgotten you, and I am praying He sends you help in this season.
Once you have reached out, never wait for a response because it’s not about you; it’s for God and His glory. Let them praise the Lord for the encouragement they receive. At the end of the day, you’re a vessel used by God to provide something someone desperately needs. And honestly, it’s almost like God encourages you as you encourage others.
So, while you’re seeking encouragement, be the one God uses to encourage someone else today. You’re never too broken, never too far gone, and certainly never ‘not strong enough’ in your faith. It’s not about who you are but who you belong to and who lives in your heart- the Lord Jesus Christ.
