We had just finished eating dinner when I stood up to start washing dishes when my daughter went straight to the bathroom to wash her hands. A few seconds later, she returned to the kitchen, asking for help. She couldn’t wash her hands because the bathtub caddy was over the sink.
She turned around and began watching TV while still standing. I immediately removed the caddy and even placed her stool in place, and then I walked back into the kitchen. I then told my daughter she could go wash her hands. And this is how it went.
Ariah: I can’t. The sink is blocked.
Mummy: You can go do it now.
Ariah: No, mummy, you don’t understand… something is blocking it.
Mummy: Ariah, go wash your hands now. Trust me.
Eventually, she decided to listen and went to wash her hands. And I asked her if she had managed to wash her hands.
Ariah: Yes, mummy, but how did that thing get moved?
Mummy: I moved it while you weren’t looking.
Ariah: Ah! Thanks mummy.
She ran off to watch tv.
Suddenly, I had a moment of insight, guided by the Holy Spirit. It made me wonder how often our Heavenly Father finds Himself in a similar situation with us? We often ask Him for help or to do something for us. And just like my daughter didn’t realize I was taking care of things for her, we sometimes don’t see God working behind the scenes, taking care of our obstacles.
Sometimes, when God says it’s okay to move forward, we still hesitate, listing reasons why we can’t because of this or that. We might not realise that God has already handled those issues for us. All He requires from us is faith in action.
Don’t spend your time trying to argue or reason with God. Instead, be courageous to move forward, especially when He has told you to do something. Even when we don’t see it, He is working; even when we don’t feel it, God is moving….. He never stops working…. We sing these words, but do we believe them?
Today, I pray that you won’t be afraid to continue with your life. Those challenges and obstacles you see in front of you won’t stay that way when you bring them to the Lord and leave them in His hands. So, don’t hesitate to stand up and tackle what needs to be done, knowing that the Lord has already prepared the way for you, making rough paths smooth and making a way where there seemed to be none. God is active on your behalf, even when you can’t see or feel it. Just trust in the Lord and keep moving forward, put your faith into action and act on His Word.
